This Refund Policy explains the procedures for refunds, cancellations, and modifications related to RugCheck's services. Please read this policy carefully to understand our practices regarding refunds and cancellations.

As a flight aggregator, RugCheck primarily provides a search and comparison service. We do not sell airline tickets directly but instead redirect you to airlines, travel agencies, and other third-party providers to complete your bookings. Therefore, it's important to understand the distinction between RugCheck's services and the services provided by these third-party booking partners.

2. RugCheck's Role

RugCheck operates as a flight search and comparison platform that helps users find the best flight options across multiple airlines and travel providers. We do not process flight bookings, issue tickets, or handle payments for flight purchases. Instead, we direct users to our partner websites where they can complete their bookings directly.

It's important to understand that:

  • When you book a flight through one of our partners, your contract for that flight is with the airline or travel provider, not with RugCheck
  • Any payment you make for flight tickets is processed by the airline or travel provider, not by RugCheck
  • The terms and conditions that apply to your booking, including cancellation and refund policies, are those of the airline or travel provider with whom you book

3. Free Search Service

RugCheck's core flight search and comparison service is provided to users free of charge. Since we do not charge users for searching and comparing flights on our platform, there are no refunds applicable for the use of our search service.

4. Premium Services

4.1 Premium Account Subscriptions

For users who have purchased a Premium Account subscription, the following refund terms apply:

  • 14-Day Cooling-Off Period: If you are a consumer based in Canada or in a jurisdiction with similar consumer protection laws, you have the right to cancel your subscription within 14 days of purchase without giving any reason. To exercise this right, you must inform us of your decision to cancel by sending a clear statement to support@rugcheck.ca. We will refund all payments received from you for the Premium Account within 14 days of receiving your cancellation notice.
  • After the Cooling-Off Period: After the 14-day cooling-off period, subscriptions are generally non-refundable for the current billing period. However, you can cancel your subscription at any time to prevent automatic renewal for the next billing period.
  • Annual Subscriptions: For annual subscriptions canceled after the cooling-off period but before the end of the subscription year, we may, at our discretion, provide a pro-rated refund for the unused portion of your subscription, less any applicable administrative fees.

4.2 Price Alert Services

If you have purchased any premium price alert services or other one-time services:

  • Before Service Delivery: If you cancel before we have delivered the service, we will provide a full refund.
  • After Service Delivery: Once the service has been delivered (e.g., price alerts have been set up and are active), no refund will be provided.

5. Third-Party Booking Refunds

5.1 Airline and Travel Provider Policies

Each airline and travel provider has its own refund and cancellation policies. These policies vary widely and may depend on:

  • The type of ticket purchased (e.g., economy, premium economy, business, first class)
  • The fare class (e.g., refundable, non-refundable, flexible)
  • The timing of the cancellation relative to the departure date
  • The reason for cancellation
  • Any travel insurance you may have purchased

We strongly recommend that you carefully review the refund and cancellation policies of the airline or travel provider before completing your booking.

5.2 How to Request a Refund for Third-Party Bookings

If you need to cancel a flight booking and request a refund, you must contact the airline or travel provider directly. As RugCheck does not process your booking or payment, we are unable to process refunds for tickets purchased through our partners.

To request a refund for your flight booking:

  1. Locate your booking confirmation email from the airline or travel provider
  2. Follow the cancellation or refund instructions provided in the email, or
  3. Visit the airline or travel provider's website and navigate to their refund/cancellation section
  4. Contact the airline or travel provider's customer service department directly

You will typically need to provide your booking reference number, the names of passengers, and possibly other identifying information to process your refund request.

5.3 Our Assistance with Third-Party Refunds

While we cannot process refunds for third-party bookings, our customer support team may be able to provide general guidance or assistance in understanding refund policies or directing you to the appropriate contact at the airline or travel provider.

6. Special Circumstances

6.1 Flight Cancellations and Significant Changes

If your flight is canceled by the airline or there is a significant change to your itinerary, you may be entitled to a refund under the airline's conditions of carriage or applicable aviation regulations, regardless of whether you purchased a refundable ticket. In such cases, you should contact the airline directly to understand your options.

6.2 Force Majeure Events

In the event of force majeure circumstances (such as natural disasters, pandemics, government travel restrictions, etc.), special refund policies may apply. These are typically determined by the airline or travel provider, not by RugCheck. We recommend checking with your airline or travel provider for their specific policies regarding force majeure events.

7. Refund Processing

7.1 RugCheck Premium Services Refunds

For eligible refunds of RugCheck premium services:

  • Method of Refund: Refunds will be processed using the same payment method you used for the original purchase.
  • Processing Time: We aim to process refunds within 14 business days of approving your refund request. However, depending on your payment provider, it may take additional time for the refund to appear in your account.
  • Refund Confirmation: Once your refund has been processed, we will send you an email confirmation.

7.2 Third-Party Refunds

For refunds of flight bookings made through our partners:

  • Processing Time: Refund processing times vary by airline and travel provider. Some may process refunds within a few days, while others may take several weeks or even months.
  • Refund Method: Refunds are typically processed to the original form of payment used for the booking.
  • Partial Refunds: Some airlines may charge cancellation fees or retain a portion of your payment, resulting in a partial refund.
  • Credit Vouchers: Instead of monetary refunds, some airlines may offer credit vouchers for future travel, especially in cases of non-refundable tickets or special circumstances.
